Psychometrics and Health Outcomes

Sandra is former director of the Psychometrics and Health Outcomes Group. In September 2018, she moved into industry where she initially worked as a Principal, Patient-Centred Outcomes, at ICON plc, a large contract research organization (CRO), where she was Head of Thought Leadership and provided consultancy services to the pharmaceutical industry. As of July 2021, Sandra started a new position at UCB Biosciences GmbH as Director, Global Patient-Centred Outcomes Research (PCOR).

With over 15 years of experience in health research, Sandra’s specific focus is quantitative patient-reported outcomes (PRO) research, especially in oncology. Her experience spans from developing, translating and validating PRO instruments to managing multi-national studies across a large range of conditions. Especially while working at Charité, Sandra developed close relationships with many prominent institutions in the PRO field (i.e., ISOQOL, EORTC, PROMIS, ICHOM). She is a former member of the ISOQOL Board of Directors and former member of the EORTC Quality of Life Group Executive Committee.

Sandra completed her PhD in 2008 at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. The focus of her thesis was the exploration of biases (i.e., response shift, social desirability) in the measurement of change. She has published extensively, with about 90 peer-reviewed publications in prestigious scientific journals and over 150 conference abstracts.
